March 3, 2013 – Riverside, Calfiornia – The Lamorinda Spartans overcame a rough start at The TbS Southern California Super Regional. After taking a couple of hard punches in their first two pool games, suffering a 8-4 loss to the Mustangs Grey of Orange County, Calfornia and then taking a 12-5 loss the bats of the San Diego Show, they put together a championship run on Sunday.

Spartans vs Diamond Stingrays
In the opening rounds of Bracket Play, they drew top seed and powerhouse Diamond Stingrays. This game proved to be their coming out.

The Spartans took advantage of the hot bats of their two TbS All Americans, Javier Felix and Dandre Gaines, who teamed up for six hits and three RBIs. The Spartans took a quick 2-0 lead scoring two runs on two singles heading into the second inning. After shutting down the powerful Stingrays order, the Spartans added two more runs in the top of the second when a wild pitch scored Gaines.

From there, the Spartans had all the answers needed to counter any comeback moves that the Stingrays could muster. In the end, the Stingrays comeback efforts fell short as the Spartans advanced with an 8-6 win. This big win sparked the Spartans into high gear. They advanced to face the BPA Demarini Elite in the semi-finals.

Brennan was driven home on a grounder by Allen to put the Spartans on top 2-0. Once again, the Spartans had answers to every great play by the Mustangs. The Mustangs got on the score board in the bottom of the first inning when Grant Holman hit a hard grounder that drove in Michael Carpentier Jr. But the Spartans answered this run by adding 2 more runs in the top of the 2nd innings when Joshua Alvardo and Dandre Gains each got on base with early singles.
