Congratulations to Lamorinda Immortals’ shortstop Adam Crampton, who was selected by TbS as one of five finalist for player of the year! Congrats Adam! Here is the TbS article:

10U Adam Crampton – Player of the Year Finalist
Sunday, 28 October 2012 08:47 moves from Southern California and looks to North California as we continue this series to introduce the Top 5 players across the nation. These players were legitimate 10 year olds during the 2012 summer season – each are “Elite of the Elite” players.10AA Lamorinda-AdamCramptonSSToday, TbS introduces our third selection of this year’s Top 5 Elite Players – Adam Crampton, the shortstop and all purpose player for the Lamorinda Immortals. He stood out all season often playing up against 11U Majors level competition. According to the skipper of Lamorinda Baseball, Rick Ryder, even when he played up, he still stood out as the best shortstop in Northern California. This is a strong endorsement considering that Rick has coached many players who have gone on to all levels of collegiate play and higher.  If you have had the opportunity to see Adam play, you’ll understand why he is a top finalist for “Player of the Year” honors.Jim Rudy, head coach of the Lamorinda Immortals, describes Adam as a definite  5 tool player. Rudy went on to say, “Adam is the best shortstop that I have seen at the 10U level.  Most of the time, we played up an age level – and still, he was always the best shortstop in 11U as well”. Coach Rudy went on to say, “Adam is the leader of our team.  He is very humble and unassuming – a great teammate”.   He stood out while playing against top level competition. The Immortals traveled all over the country to seek out the top teams. They played the best in Southern California, Las Vegas, as well as, playing the top 11U teams in Northern California.  Adam and his team mates also traveled east to Atlanta and finished strong in the Travelball™ Nationals.Adam is an exceptionally versatile athlete. He usually bats leadoff for the Immortals, but he can easily bat 3rd or in the power slot – because he hits for power and has consistently been the offensive leader on his team.  He is a very durable player who showed up strong in every game. He led his team in games played, AB’s, Hits, andstolen bases. Specifically, he compiled an impressive batting average of .478 and slugged at a whooping 76% while hitting 7 homeruns, 14 doubles, and 67 singles in 205 at bats. And, let’s not forget – he did this while playing mostly against 11U Major level competition.
Those who have seen Adam in action and have first hand knowledge of his skills, all say that he has a great work ethic. On the defensive side of the ball, he brings very soft hands, great feet, backed by a rifle arm that allows him to make the difficult plays (in the hole) look routine.  He truly prides himself on his defense. In addition, Adam is also one of the Immortals top Aces on the mound. He has excellent control of four pitches. When he takes the mound, he is a fierce competitor who takes command.  His fast ball clocked as high as 67 mph. Overthe course of the season,  Adam established an 11-1 record that included 2 “No Hitters” and 4 shutouts while compiling a remarkable 0.3 ERA. All totaled, he gave the Immortals 53 solid innings while giving up only 16 runs as he struck out 69 batters and gave up only 19 walks. His single loss came against the SGV Hustle in the Travelball™ National Championship game! That loss came after he had just delivered one of his best pitching performances of the year – defeating the SGV Hustle in the semi-final game at that same major event. In that game, he went 4 innings with 7 Ks, giving up only 2 hits while allowing no walks as he lead the Immortals to a 10-0 win.
10POY-AdamCramptonP2WCoach Rudy finished his comments with a statement that best describes exactly how good this young player really is: “I have seen many great athletes this year, but Adam Crampton would be my #1 pick if I were starting a team. He can be counted on when the competition gets tough.

And finally, it is important that we do not forget one of his most important skills – he’s a straight “A” student.  When it comes to playing at D1 Levels of Collegiate play, good grades can be as important as a remarkable fastball.  This young athlete has both.

Clearly, Adam Crampton is a special player and that is why he counts prominent among our list of the top 5 players in the nation this year – He’s a deserving finalist for Player of the Year.
