MonarchsRo(Youth1) – The Northern California Lamorinda Monarchs will put their 14U 20-game win streak on the line on December 27-30 at the Arizona Winter Nationals Super NIT.

The Monarchs are fresh off of their Thanksgiving Super NIT Championship and are looking forward to taking on some of the best teams in the West at this always-great event.  Among the teams competing will be the Chandler Rangers, who have won 6 of the 7 tournaments they have entered this season, the defending Texas State Champions, Crush, as well as several other talented teams.

The Monarchs will have a tough road ahead of them, drawing the Cyclones BB (AZ Thanksgiving NIT Champs), Storm Black (AZ Fall State Champs), and The Sandlot Bulldogs (one of the few teams that beat the Monarchs in their 12U National Championship season) in pool play.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, the Monarchs qualified for the USSSA Elite World Series by going 6-0 in the Thanksgiving Super NIT in SoCal and outscoring their opponents 48-5.

The Monarch’s 24-2 record and 20-game win streak should come as no surprise though, having played up at the 14U age group all last year, with the exception of only the AAU Championships. Now a year older and stronger, the boys have been using what they learned from last season to their advantage, and the results have paid off.

After dropping their first game of the Fall State Championships, the Monarchs proceeded to win their next twenty games in a row, which resulted in four championships: the Fall State, NCTB Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Super NIT, and most recently the 14U All-World tourney. Their overall record on the season is 27-6, and they even hold an impressive 4-4 record against teams 15U and up.

The Monarchs are the twotime defending AAU National Champions and have already signed on to go for a threepeat in 2012. Along the way they will be competing in multiple high profile tournaments including this weekend’s Winter Nationals, the Memorial Day Super NIT, and the USSSA Elite World Series.
