I have been coaching/managing baseball for over 20 years (see BIO below) and I am certain that players who have the talent, work ethic and determination to play in high school and college must begin their journey at a young age. For better or for worse, the process to becoming a tier one baseball player in our area begins now at 14U.

I will be Managing the 14U team and I will be the face of the LAMORINDA 14U program for the foreseeable future. I am excited to be heading into my 8th season with the LAMORINDA Baseball Club! For more than a decade, LAMORINDA has set the standard of excellence for competitive tournament baseball throughout the state of California and Nationally. My 14U team and our LAMORINDA program has made a decision to advance with the evolution of youth baseball with regards to player development and showcasing our young athletes to prepare for the next level of competition.

The Vikings will continue to put a world class product between the lines and compete at the highest possible level. Focusing on development will be my primary goal. This type of development will prioritize player skills to prepare him for the high school/college experience.

College coaches are starting the recruiting process as early as a players Freshmen season in high school. 14U/16U baseball is scouted most frequently and my main objective is to make sure our players have the best opportunity to realize their desires to play college baseball.

My LAMORINDA players will be versed in multiple positions at practice as well as games. Our practices will contain multiple reps for players at all positions. We, (Martin Soares) and I will be covering all aspects of the game during our Fall workouts and make sure that our players have a complete understanding of the game.

This type of development doesn’t happen overnight and homework will be distributed. We’re looking for DEDICATED players who have the desire to learn and continue to get better every week!

Finally, school will also be stressed and lightly monitored. In my 10+ years of delivering players to the college level, the first question I ALWAYS hear from a college coach is “What are his grades like?” Proper study habits implemented now will carry over into high school and make these great players an even better investment to the college of his choice!
